Workers have been busy getting City Hall ready for the Re-Dedication ceremony held on July 19, 2005 in the new Council Chambers. Cleaning crews spent two days cleaning the Council Chambers and the new furniture for the area was put into place.
City Council held their first meeting in the newly renovated Council Chambers. Council members took their places at the newly constructed Council Dias. This beautiful Dias incorporates original marble from the building which was saved for re-use in the renovation. This marble serves as the top of the Dias with decorative panels inserted on the front. Equipped with modern technology each Council member has a monitor that allows them to view items that the audience sees on the screen behind the Council Members.

A beautiful balance was found in retaining and reusing many original materials in this near century-old building, while adding much needed modernization that will allow continued use for generations to come.
Mayor Mack acted as Master of Ceremonies for the Re-Dedication. Speeches were given by Dale Priester, Building Authority, Tom Nemitz, Cornerstone Architects and Gary Buren, Lakewood Inc. The event culminated with Mayor Mack unveiling the new bronze plaque that will be installed at City Hall. The attendees at the ceremony were each given a paperweight made out of original marble from the building.
