City Hall Renovation 2004

Demolition crews continue working at City Hall. The removal of the vaults proved to be challenging to say the least. The work began with heavy sledge hammers, continued with handheld jackhammers and finished with a bobcat equipped with a jackhammer to accomplish demolition. All that remains is a small pile of rubble in the basement and two large holes in the first floor.

Demolition of the basement will be extensive so that it can be re-configured to better serve the Police Department. Once renovation is complete the public entrance to the Police Department will be located on the West side of the building. This entrance will also provide barrier free access to the elevator that will service all floors of the building. Public restrooms are included in the renovation plans for this area of the building.
