Work continues on the renovation of City Hall. This highlight includes photographs of the future Council Chambers (former attic). Windows will be installed on the west side of the building with a shed dormer that will have ten windows that will provide natural lighting to the room. This will be achieved with a dormer that required a large portion of the roof to be removed from the building. The hole was cut for the dormer early in the morning of November 29th with the crews installing a new steel beam that was lifted into place by a crane. The weather proved to be cooperative and the installation went smoothly.
Photo on the left shows the hole that was cut into the roof for the dormer. The photo on the right shows the beam which was installed that will support the roof and allows the removal of support beams that would be a visual obstruction in the Council Chambers.
Photos shows the crew hard at work preparing the area so the steel beam could be installed. Note the picture on the left shows the original chimney. The picture on the right shows the elevator shaft that protrudes from the roof. The new elevator shaft will be covered to match the building.
